Project description

This project’s research question is to what extent an increasing media coverage made aristocratic women conform to middle-class sexual morality and consequently led to their exclusion from politics. It will compare the use of sexual morality as a political weapon in ‘liberal’ London and in Vienna with its strict censorship laws from an inner and outer perspective.
