The aim of this research project is to consider how different manuscript versions of the most important fifteenth-century Flemish chronicle tradition, the ‘Excellente Cronicke van Vlaenderen’, show a process of réécriture (rewriting) reflecting specific ideological discursive and narrative strategies that can be linked to the socio-political and cultural constellations in late medieval Flanders.
