Project description

Novel in-plane liquid crystal lasers that can be used to couple light into single mode fibers or for efficient biosensing will be developed. The technology, experimental setup and theoretical modeling of in-plane lasing devices will be investigated. As a proof-of principle, an optofluidic device will be demonstrated in which biological species are illuminated by an integrated in-plane liquid crystal laser.
