This project aims to employ high-throughput glycan microarray analyses to study the spatio-temporal distribution of mixed-linkage glucan (MLG) across vascular plants and then select species for detailed investigations, which include immunolabelling and chemical analyses of MLG fine structure. Such mapping of MLG in the context of plant lineage and anatomy will provide a deeper insight in its significance and evolution.
