Project description
 

Alphaherpesviruses invade respiratory and genital mucosae. With the present project, we want to examine how they do this. First, the barrier function of the tight junctions will be studied in both mucosae and the basolaterally localized receptor will be identified. Next, the proteases that are
involved in the basement membrane crossing will be identified and their induction will be examined.
