Project description
There’s an underrepresentation of players with predominant fast-twitch fibers in elite soccer, opposite
to performance requirements. Do we lose youth fast-twitch players along the development path and
what are the underlying mechanisms? As fast-twitch fibers show faster fatigue and need more time
to recover, fast-twitch players might need a personalized approach to prevent overtraining, muscle
injury risks and eventually drop-out.
