The general goal of CLEANSURFACE is the introduction of innovative stainless steel (RVS) coatings in the Flemish food industry, which will result in reduced fouling and biofilm formation. The project will give rise to a set of guidelines on how preventively and curatively the adhesive behavior of stainless steel can be changed and which are the best solutions for doing this. Introducing innovative stainless steel coatings will result in reduced fouling and biofilm formation, which will benefit efficiency and support product safety and quality. By optimizing the cleaning and disinfection procedures (R & D) for these new types of stainless steel, the consumption of cleaning and disinfection products will decrease, leading to sustainable processes with a lower environmental impact and reduced costs for water purification.
