On 6 February 2024, the Act amending the Patient's Rights Act of 22 August 2002 was promulgated. Despite the various amendments that the 2002 Act underwent, the Patient Rights Act still refers to ‘the patient’. However, Article 3 of this Act allows for the adoption of further rules on the application of the Act or the application of specific rights defined in this Act to certain health care practitioners and health care services in order to take into account the need for specific protection.
This research project aims to formulate recommendations to the government to determine these further rules for 3 groups of patients with special vulnerability: 1. underage patients; 2. patients with mental health problems; 3. patients who were victims of sexual violence.
