Project description

This project comprises the weld integrity assessment in combined presence of volumetric flaws and sharp defects (e.g., cracks). Finite element techniques are developed to model these flaws and stable crack growth originating from the defect. Models are experimentally validated in cooperation with industrial and academic partners (including the UGCT). A numerical parametric study will lead to improved weld assessment guidelines.
