Project description

Epidemiology of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) (AKI-EPI 2)

Aim: Epidemiology and outcomes of AKI in IUC patients

Method: international multicenter cohort study; 10,642 patients

Endpoints:

Primary: Occurence of AKI and max severity stage withijn first 7 d of ICU admission

Secondary:

  • AKI in patients with and without known baseline creatinine value
  • duration of AKI
  • Rapid reversal (<48 h) and persistent AKI (>= 48h)
  • Acute Kidney Disease
  • Use of renal Replacement therapy (RRT)
  • Duration of ICU admission, post ICU admission and hosqpital admission
  • AKI defined by urine or serum creatinine criteria only
  • Creatinine, RRT, mortality, quality of life (EQ5D-5L) at day 90 and 1 y
  • Major adverse Kidney Events (MAKE), composite of death, RRT and kidney function at day 90 and 1 y
