Project description
Invasive species threaten biodiversity, so their prevention is crucial. Currently, predictions are based on extrapolation of native-range characteristics to new areas. However, frequent mismatches raise concerns about their validity. I use the invasion of common waxbills to test the effectiveness of alternative frameworks. By linking species traits to environmental data, mechanistic approaches can better delineate areas within species’ environmental tolerance.
