Project description

Research on journalistic practices that rely on quantitative methods and computational techniques to gather, process, analyse, and visualise datasets and its relation to the democratic society. The opening up of the news-making process to readers, is seen to increase citizen participation in public affairs. Discourse around data journalism suggests that these hitherto marginal practices might be giving birth to a popular new narrative about journalistic knowledge production that poses a challenge to traditional journalism epistemology.
