Project description
In allergic asthma, lung epithelial cells are crucial for the activation of dendritic cells that drives inflammation. During allergen-induced asthma tissue edema can occur, resulting in hypoxia or a low oxygen tension. Prolyl hydroxylases are sensors for hypoxia. In this project, we investigate how overexpression or downregulation of prolyl hydroxylase levels in lung epithelial cells influences house dust mite-induced asthma.
