Project description

Archaeological research concerning the Roman period and the Middle Ages in NW Europe has increased significantly in recent years. This has led to several PhDs, publications and valorisation projects. However, much knowledge can still be gained from the increasingly rich data set. The funds for the basic funding will be used, on the one hand, to fill knowledge gaps that exist with research of a mainly interdisciplinary nature (e.g. geophysics, source study, (geo)chemical analysis) and bring them to publication. On the other hand, the intention is to develop new, interdisciplinary-based syntheses on the occupation history of this region.
