Project description

The proposed project aims to provide a large-scale interdisciplinary study of James Thomson's The Seasons and the different textualities the poem engenders. It combines print culture research and reception studies with a rigorous application of the Genettian theories of paratextuality and hypotextuality and will produce a sophisticated matrix of Thomson's transposition and transformation of earlier texts.
