In January 2019, Vereniging Ons Tehuis, in collaboration with Ghent University, received approval from the Flemish government to establish an "academic workplace". It pays attention to the organization of a positive and safe living climate in residential youth care.

The 'Academic Workplace Leefklimaat' (AWL) in Flanders connects practice, science and policy.  It aims  to collect information on the theme, further develop knowledge, broaden and anchor it at all levels involved (living group, organization, policy, research).
