Project description
The molecular entomology group focusses on understanding the fundamental mechanisms and the barriers of RNAi in insects. Using this knowledge, we aim to improve RNAi efficacy by overcoming these barriers of RNAi using dsRNA carrier molecules and viral-based delivery. In addition, we support the public debate on risk assessment and regulatory aspects by investigating and evaluating the potential risks of RNAi-based products. In a second research line, the molecular entomology group investigates the dynamics and role of protein glycosylation in the embryonal and post-embryonal development of insects.
