Project description

For many years, Ghent University researchers have studied Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and the fundamental role of movement in human development. We consistently strive to translate our research findings into practical applications for the broader society. However, DCD presents a unique challenge. In addition to the dissemination of scientific knowledge on this topic, there is an urgent need for raising awareness. One of our most recent national studies (ImpACT for DCD) revealed that 26% of general practitioners, 60% of class teachers, and 89% of friends and family did not know DCD. We are committed to tackle this issue by organising Dutch/French-spoken programs addressed at school staff and families and invite them to actively participate as expert presenters at the international DCD15-IMDRC6 conference.
