Project description

New applications as anti-cancer drugs have been suggested for analogs of 1,25(OH)2D3 as they have potent antipoliterative and antimetastasis activities with minimal calcemic side effects. our research, together with Ghent University. have resulted in the development of several ... analogs. In view of the fact that .... of all breast cancers express a functional vitamin D receptor, these analogs constitute a possible treatment alternative. In the present research project, we aim to investigate the molecular signalling cascades that underlie the antipoliterative as well as the anti-migratory effects of 1.25(OH)2d3 and analogs. The antitumor activity of a selection of ... will be evaluated in an in vivo model of skeletal breast cancer metastasis. Biological profiles of analogs together with knowledge of their mechanism of action will allow the rational design of novel ... analogs of 1,25(OH)2D3.
