Project description

A proportion of patients with prostate cancer are still confronted with metastases metastases) during the course of their disease. These patients are uniformly treated with castration (surgical or chemical), so that the problems that arise be delayed due to metastases. Castration is accompanied by various side effects such as sexual dysfunction, fatigue, hot flushes, weight gain, osteoporosis, ... which affect the quality of life. This uniform treatment of metastatic patients has recently been called into question since some of the patients develop metastases in a limited number. This led to the hypothesis that a targeted treatment of these metastases with surgery or radiotherapy, the need may wait until the start of castratiethe therapy. Alternatively, it is also possible to set not only the treatment of patients to actively follow up with regular checks of blood values and imaging tests. The current study will compare two alternative strategies together with the intention to postpone as long as possible castration therapy.
