Project description

The proposed research will map the network of poet and orientalist Laurence Binyon, with special interest for his Belgian contacts. Binyon (1869-1943) was an influential figure in Great-Britain at the time. His two interests, Northern European art and Asian art, were to be the basis for his links with artists all over the world. To map those links we will use the histoire croisée approach, an methodology which is still very new in literary studies.
