Catastrophic events (earthquakes, floods) can cause turbidites in lake sediments. To distuinguish between the different triggers, we will use high-resolution X-ray CT to characterize the internal structures of lacustrine turbidites in 3D. These structures will allow reconstructing paleo turbidity-flow directions, and combined with a detailed analysis of the composition, it will permit to determine their trigger mechanisms.
