Aquaculture wastewater reflects an emerging, critical concern, but also a highly relevant opportunity for resource recovery in developing countries. Here, anaerobic digestion will be combined with microalgae for the integrated valorisation of aquaculture wastewater towards renewable energy (biogas), clean water and high-quality microalgae biomass. A suitable microalgae harvesting strategy will be applied to achieve an economically feasible system.
