Project description

In 1994, the date of death of Gerardus Mercator, the four hundredth anniversary was commemorated including the redesign of the Mercator Museum. Especially with the treasury: unique atlases globes E 2 forms the centerpiece of this realization. Meanwhile, we are two decades on and we live in a society where digital and multimedia elements have penetrated the everyday environment. Mercator to re-bring the attention of a wider audience planned a didactic exhibition about popularizing Mercator cartographic work, but cast in a digital context. In other words, by presenting the digitally historical heritage in a very recognizable (and at times intriguing) context cast today.
