Project description

The aim of this project is to develop, design, assembly and validate a SMART proof-of-concept technical prototype for the continuous lyophilization of orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs). This new technology should

overcome all current processing and formulation related disadvantages and limitations inherent to the traditional batch-wise lyophilization of ODTs. The envisaged throughput of the technical POC prototype will be flexible, i.e., between 15-100 unit doses/8 hours. Finally, the feasability of the SMART proof-of-concept technical prototype for the manufacturing of new types of ODTs (e.g., high dose and fixed dose combination ODTs) –which cannot be

processed using the traditional batch technology –will be evaluated.
