Projectomschrijving

Rond goud nanopartikels belicht met een nanoseconde laserpuls kunnen waterdampbubbels ontstaan wanneer deze ingebed zijn in weefsels. Na expansie zullen de bubbels imploderen waarbij mechanische schade toegebracht wordt aan naburige structuren. Dit effect zal gebruikt worden om op gecontroleerde wijze celmembranen te beschadigen ten einde cytosolische toelevering van nanomaterialen en macromoleculen mogelijk te maken, alsook de eradicatie van bacteriële biofilms.
