Project description

It is time to change course on how we use pesticides in the European Union (EU). To safeguard our environment, food, & public health, the EU has proposed to reduce the use of chemical pesticides by 50% by the year 2030 as part of the European Green Deal. This goal is a complex challenge, as a one-size-fits-all solution is unattainable. Instead, the EU emphasises the adoption of sustainable, non-chemical pest control methods, with a strong focus on pest prevention. In ProFIT, we will further expand the applicability of and potential for defined microbial chitooligosaccharides to be used as (cost-)effective biological plant priming agents and enable the path towards customized agriculture.
