Project description
Modern-day activity of the Laacher See volcanic system is evidenced by gas seeps in its caldera lake, emitting CO2 of magmatic origin. The project investigates the origin, evolution and degassing activity of the lake with different geophysical and sedimentological techniques. The aim is to visualize and map gas accumulations and migration in the subsurface for a better volcanic hazard assessment.
