Starting from a number of specific themes, it is necessary to arrive at scientifically substantiated long-term perspectives for Flanders. Concretely, we ask to reflect on the long-term developments relevant to the specific themes as included in some current WRR publications. In the reflection we ask for attention to: (i) long-term developments relevant for policy with attention to points of contact and difference between the Netherlands and Flanders; (ii) the influence of COVID-19 and other global trends on these long-term developments; (iii) urgent policy challenges including perspectives where there are opportunities for a recovery policy; (iv) identifying uncertainties and potential vulnerabilities that may have an impact on the recovery policy; and (v) policy-relevant long-term recommendations. Within the writing assignment questions, we expect a compilation of evidence-based reflections with policy-relevant long-term recommendations, based on the above description and in the form of set of one or more evidence-based papers, preferably in Dutch.
