Project description

The aim of the project is to evaluate and develop novel, efficient and cost-effective tools that support the nationally on-going tsetse fly and trypanosomiasis suppression, monitoring, evaluation and intervention and in some areas eradication efforts. Trypanosomiasis is one of the top prioritized diseases in Ethiopia with significant contribution to poverty, food insecurity, poor income generation and agricultural underdevelopment. The project has a prospect to yield innovative tools for tsetse fly and trypanosomiasis intervention. The ultimate tools developed by this project have impact on the national efforts on trypanosomiasis and the impact of the tools is going to prevail for the decades to come not only in Ethiopia, but also in other countries in Sub-Saharian Africa.
