This research focuses on qualitative renovation of SME buildings. From the 70's, they were mass-stretched with new fast construction methods (system building). Meanwhile, more than 65,000 such box-shaped buildings are outdated and the building shelf no longer meets the current requirements in terms of energetic performance, comfort and aesthetics. The primary bearing structure is usually still in good condition. Renovation of these buildings is therefore a new business opportunity. However, the current lack of theoretical and practical knowledge about renovations of this type of buildings, tailored to construction companies, leads to a suboptimal implementation practice.
The primary target group consists of two subgroups. The largest subgroup includes execution companies, more specifically construction companies, insulation companies and facade / roofing plants. The number of refurbishment companies active in the SME building sector is estimated at 600. In addition, building materials producers are also part of the primary target group as they provide the necessary materials for a qualitative performance and often perform an advisory function. The secondary target group includes architects, study agencies, building managers, professional associations and federations.
