Project description
First, we examine how basic elements of speech processing (vowels, consonants) are impaired in the ageing process based on a combined physiological and sound-perception human experiment. These data yield the hearing-loss parameters of a bio-inspired model of auditory signal processing. After translating this model into a deep-neural-network version, it is adopted in a closed-loop systems to generate and test new and improved hearing-aid algorithms.
