Project description
This PhD project investigates the potential and applicability of marker-assisted selection in honey bees for resistance towards the Varroa mite and specific bee viruses. The project attempts to reconfirm the association between specific markers and their associated phenotype at the wider population level (Flanders) and integrate them into targeted selection programs to ultimately evaluate the resistance in marker-enriched populations.
