Thyreostats, which are illegally administered to livestock for animal fattening purposes, are forbidden in the European Union. This dual project intends to investigate the origin of 'naturally' occurring thyreostats in order to identify new discriminative biomarkers. Besides, the application of state-of-the-art analytical equipment will enable to investigate the impact of environmental contaminants on the thyroid metabolism in domesticated animals.
