Microorganisms of the family Enterobacteriaceae are difficult to identify at the species level. MLSA based on four housekeeping gene sequences allows accurate species identification within the genera Pantoea and Erwinia. Therefore, this MLSA technique will be expanded to all species from plant associated genera in the family, and to species from closely related genera containing strains of clinical origin.
