Project description
This study evaluates the effects of land management on
the water balance of Geba catchment, Northern Ethiopia. We will 1) assess land
use and land cover change ca. 80 years (1935 – 2015); 2) explore the runoff
response to check dam construction; 3) calibrate the water balance with the
large set of existing hydrological data; 4) assess changes in the water
balance of Geba catchment since 1935; and 5) formulate guidelines to optimize
water use which is relevant for future catchment management.
