Keywords
tubular K-joints Residual weld stress fatigue

Project description

The fatigue susceptibility of tubular bridges, composed of circular hollow section profiles welded together in Kjoints,

is due to stress concentrations, to welding imperfections and to tensile residual weld stresses. Since the

residual stress distribution is largely unknown, this research wants to determine the actual distribution using the

hole-drilling method on actual samples, combined with FE calculations.
