Project description

In ISHECO project will be approached these objectives through three lines of research based on the use of materials with a self-healing: - Self-healing concrete (with different repair mechanisms); - Self Healing barrier coating on the outer surface of the concrete; - Self-healing anti-corrosion coating on the arms steel in the concrete. This self-healing materials will be specifically developed and deployed in this project for the use of reinforced concrete. Their impact on the transport properties of corrosive elements in the concrete and the corrosion of the steel will be examined. Quantitative data will be important input for the lifetime prediction of reinforced concrete, and the detailed numerical modeling of the transport properties and corrosion whether torn and restored (the self-healing materials) concrete. additionally there will be a complete life cycle analysis, and cost-benefit analysis can be performed for this application.
