Project description

Biofilm-associated microorganisms are resistant to antibiotics, causing problems for the treatment of biofilm-related infections. Bacterial cell-cell communication (quorum sensing, QS) may contribute to biofilm resistance. The goal is to develop biomaterials loaded with QS inhibitors and to evaluate their effect on microbial adhesion and/or antibiotic susceptibility. Besides this, combination therapy will be evaluated in chronic wound and respiratory tract infections.
