Project description
This research programme explores the intimate and relational lives of people in late midlife and old age. Using (auto)ethnographic methods, different intersectional positions are considered, and intimacy and sexuality are viewed as assemblages of intra-acting physical/material and discursive elements. The research brings together findings from gender studies, relationship and sexuality research and critical ageing studies and aims to gain new insights into intimate life as an area of oppression that can nevertheless materialise in forms of resistance.
