For several years, interprofessional education has been developed by our unit (IPC-ERP GE39) and implemented in a systematised way in various courses at our Faculty, the Faculty of Pharmacological Sciences, HoGent and Artevelde Hogeschool.
In a recently finished PhD in our group, the concept of 'interprofessional identity' was developed and an accompanying rubric developed. This rubric serves to evaluate the impact of interprofessional education on the identity development of future healthcare providers in a longitudinal way.
In the coming years, we will use these concepts and tools to further scientifically underpin and optimise the interprofessional curriculum.
In addition, we will explore how to further develop interprofessional competences in students during internships. This workplace learning forms the bridge between classroom learning in basic education and lifelong learning during professional life.
