Project description

We will investigate the molecular mechanisms by which a number of nutrients (zinc, abscisic acid and berberine) protect against inflammatory and infectious diseases. We will focus on the effect of these nutrients on intestinal health and homeostasis. More specifically, we wish to study their effect on the composition of the gut microbiome and the interaction between gut microbes and gut epithelial cells.
