The research within the Health Equity Advancement Lab in Ghent lead bij Tine Vervoort investigates social determinants and psychological processes underlying health outcomes across a variety of domains, including physical health, mental health, and social well-being. Research is conducted among clinical and non-clinical child and adult populations with a particular focus on understanding and targeting health inequities. The basic research funding applied for will be devoted to expand our research examining the phenomenology of mental health stigma among individuals with minoritized racial identities, its antecedents and buffering factors and its perceived impact on mental health care services that individuals seek or receive. Our work will also examine stigma & discrimination among individuals with minoritized identities within other contexts including academia.
