Bio
Laura Nys is historian. Her research concerns the social history of emotions, youth, gender and the history of social movements. Her PhD dissertation (2020) focused on the role of emotions in Belgian reform schools for juvenile offenders throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. From 2020 to 2023 she worked as assistant-professor at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul. In 2024, she was a research fellow of the Independent Social Research Foundation and visiting researcher at the Centre for the History of the Emotions (Queen Mary University, London). She is currently working as postdoctoral scholar on the research project 'Outlaw', documenting the life stories of prisoners in the nineteenth century.
