Marthe obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Ghent University in 2020. After graduating, she worked as a clinical psychologist in a group practice, a position she held until July 2022.
In 2021, Marthe joined the Ghent Health Psychology Lab (Ghent University) and the End-of-Life Care Research Group (Ghent University – Vrije Universiteit Brussel) as a PhD candidate. Her doctoral project, supervised by Prof. Dr. Liesbet Goubert and co-supervised by Prof. Dr. Lesley Verhofstadt (Family Lab) and Prof. Dr. Kim Beernaert (End-of-Life Care Research Group), focuses on parental cancer in families with adolescent and young adult (AYA) children, with particular attention to the experiences and support needs of AYAs and family system dynamics. Apart from research, Marthe operates as an education assistant in the Ghent Health Psychology Lab.
