The Radiation Physics research group, headed by prof. L. Van Hoorebeke and prof. M. Boone, performs research on high resolution X-ray tomography. This includes the study of the physical processes that govern the imaging chain in laboratory-based systems and novel X-ray imaging instrumentation and techniques, simulation of the imaging chain, design and construction of state-of-the-art very high resolution X-ray CT-systems for scientific research, development of tomographic reconstruction methodologies (including iterative reconstruction techniques and GPU-based code) and 3D image analysis methods. The group is embedded in the Centre for X-ray tomography of the UGent (UGCT, www.ugct.ugent.be).
