Over the last few decades, veterinary oncology services have significantly developed and advanced. This progress is assisted by a rising demand for veterinary oncology care and through the transfer of knowledge from human to veterinary medicine. Furthermore, companion animals can serve as valuable cancer models for human medicine since they naturally develop cancer with a healthy immune system. To benefit from the synergy between human and veterinary oncology, a group of veterinary research teams from Ghent University have joined forces to investigate animal cancer. Our objective is to provide a platform for veterinary and human cancer research. To achieve this, we aim to unite laboratories and medical professionals by combining state-of-the-art technology with required clinical samples.
