Description
The research group Ancient History (ANCIENTHISTORY) is one of the research groups in the Department of History. The group brings together all staff members of the department who conduct research in the history of Classical Antiquity, Late Antiquity, and Byzantium. There are four full-time professors and a changing number of PhD and post-doctoral researchers (usually about 15 to 20). The main focus is on the social and economic history of the Roman World, ancient urban history, socio-cultural and political history of Late Antiquity, and cultural history of Antiquity and Byzantium, including early Christianity.
