Description
The research group Empirical and Quantitative Translation and Interpreting Studies (EQTIS) specializes in quantitative corpus-based and process-based research of language use in different translation modes (regular written translations, audiovisual translations and oral translations by interpreters). The research group has a specific focus on the linguistic and contextual factors determining translation choices. Language use is compared to that in source texts and non-translated texts and is statistically analysed and interpreted. On this basis, a better knowledge is acquired of the socio-cognitive and discursive mechanisms that control both the translation product and the translation process.
