Description
The Epidemiology and Prevention Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care conducts several research projects relating to disease prevention including risk factors epidemiology, lifestyle changes, risk management, psychosocial risk factors and physical activity at work and health-related quality of life in patients with chronic diseases. The Unit is in close collaboration with the Belgian institute for health Sciensano (Brussels), the Institute of Tropical Medicine (Antwerp), the Imperial College London, Cambridge University, the National University of Ireland (Galway), the Jožef Stefan Institute Slovenia and the National Research Centre for the Working Environment (Copenhagen) with whom the unit shares several projects on the epidemiology and prevention of major health problems in developed and developing countries. Our mission is to improve the health of people through population-based research with the aim to develop appropriate preventive strategies.
